Using the CNC Router for Wood Inlay (Quick & Dirty)

December 16 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

This is a chance to learn to do simple engraving and inlay work with our new and improved CNC router.

We’ve got the CNC Router in the shop but not many people know how to use it. I’ve used it to make plenty of fancy cutting boards, and now you can too.

This will be a quick and dirty class on how to engrave or do a simple wood inlay. We’ll be using scraps ~4″x4″ big and inlaying one piece of wood into the other. You are required to bring an image in DXF format (a vector file) that you want to engrave. If you don’t know what that is a black and white jpeg should work, but be prepared for me to give you a dirty look if you do. If you don’t bring anything I’ll pick some random image for you, but my sense of humour is not kind, so be prepared not to like it. It’ll help if you have some basic woodworking skills.

This is a quick and dirty class, the point isn’t to beat the fine details of CNC into you, just work through the tool chain so that you can have a cool little wooden plaque by the end of it. once you know the principles you can apply them to larger projects.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

IF YOU REQUIRE ACCOMMODATIONS, CONTACT [email protected] BEFORE PURCHASING YOUR TICKET. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO HOST YOU.
