Flux & Fire is a large-scale interactive fire experience that captures the idea that art can be made anywhere, be temporary and articulated in flames. The beauty of Flux & Fire is that is can be experienced and controlled by 1 to 2 Nuit Blanche adult participants as well as 2-4 children or families simultaneously.
Dance, sway, hold hands, edge-set IR sensors on the stage will detect your presence and fire reacts. The esthetic and experiential goal of Flux and Fire is to create a safe space where participants feel as though their movements are creating the fire. To other Nuit Blanche onlookers, it will seem as though they are watching a magician, conductor or any number of personal interpretations of the performer on the platform
Flux & Fire is a collaborative adaption of Interpretive Arsons’ 2PiR for Canada.
It was first displayed as an Independent Project for Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2010: where Flux & Fire was awarded the People’s Choice for Independent Projects.
More recently Flux & Fire was seen at Ottawa’s Winterlude 2011
Site 3 encourages artists to reach further than they thought they were capable.
