Who Qualifies:
We are looking for artists and artisans with a view to the future. Preference will be given to those not previously affiliated with Site 3, although of course we would like to see a broad range of response. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary project proposals which incorporate a high level of technical accomplishment with some element which could not be easily achieved without the support of Site 3. We are open to proposals from emerging artists (“The Youngs”), but emerged artists (“The Olds”) are also specifically welcome to apply. There will be no preference given to one material technique over another.
We want to see some amazing things. We think you have some idea of what you want to make. Come make it with us.
Paul and Lauren are members who make metal things..The quest for a Site 3 logo belt buckle is ongoing, but their equipment is definitely getting sexier!

Heating coils are 20 gauge nichrome wire connected to 120V AC. Insulation is ceramic fiber blanket in a steel bucket. Consumes around 1200W and requires minimal supervision.
Fun with lightning, video auditions, an intro to Arduino course, oyster shucking, and popping corn with nichrome.

Last night at the open house: Dana’s home-made vacuforming efforts resulted in a bunch of people leaving the shop with a mask of Dana.

Hi-ho, syber reporting here! One random Thursday in November, myself and Michelle-the-intern chatted with a couple of Site 3 members about what they were doing there. We didn’t warn anyone we were doing this, so there’s lots of activity and background noise, and as it turns out – that’s exactly what Site 3 is about.
So Site 3: it’s about being loud and burning things without getting in trouble.
The next video will hopefully feature our hardworking founders; Alex and Seth, who are teaching a flame effects class very soon!
