- Announcement of several upcoming art projects and creative events.
- This will be a licensed event so social lubrication will be on hand to assist philosophical discourse.

WHEN: Saturday, July 16th 2011 – 8:00pm – 2:00am

WHERE: Site 3 coLaboratory. A wonderful space where the intersection between art and technology is explored. 718R, Ossington Avenue. A 2 minute walk from Ossington Subway Station.

See more on the Facebook event page.

WHY: This is the launch party of the art project “A Thousand Lines, A Thousand Drawings”, a platform to announce future art projects and ideas, and the launch of my new website. Or an excuse for all of the amazing people I know to get together and discuss art.

This art project that blossomed out of a recent discussion about calligraphy. It started out as a way of exploring the infinite varieties of expression that are possible even with a very strict set of rules. Each drawing will be one continuous line inspired by a random collection of words, a favourite quote, an expression, or a brief description of an idea.

For example; a person could provide me with the quote “Ignis Aurum Probat, Miseria Fortes Homines” or the words “Love, Hospital, Rock”. In each case I would create an exploration in line incorporating these stimulus words and send the drawing to that person.

To get an idea what some of my continuous line drawings look like you can visit the following link:

Hope to see you there!
Warm regards,

Robert Bentley

Site 3 and “Door Prize” Party: Raising Funds for New Location/Machines

Site 3 has a ton of projects going on and we need to grow our space and get some more tools.  We are a non-profit arts collective so we’re having a mad party, and to make it better, we’re giving away “door prizes.”  We can’t have a raffle due to OLG rules! The party is at The Green Room in Toronto, and we’re charging $5 on the door… unless you have a “ticket.” Tickets are $2 each, or 3 for $5. Contact Laura at ljweller@sympatico.ca if you’re interested in getting your hands on some tickets.

Prizes include:

  • 2 days of graphic design work by Alex of rowdymedia.com: typographic design with a dark pop sensibility
  • Handmade glass oyster pendant complemented by freshwater pearls and a sterling silver neck chain, by Lola!
  • One Private English Riding Lesson at Bayview Equestrian Centre in Burlington
  • $50 Gift Certificate for Sweet Surrender Desserts – custom cakes & desserts
  • Custom hair cut & style by professional stylist Mel P.

Party Date: Friday April 30th, 8pm @ The Green Room in Toronto

If your name’s drawn and you ain’t there, no worries! We’ll find a way to contact you. But really, be there. The Green Room. Patio season. A bunch of terrifying nerds. What could possibly go wrong?
