WHERE: Site 3 coLaboratory. A wonderful space where the intersection between art and technology is explored. 718R, Ossington Avenue. A 2 minute walk from Ossington Subway Station.

See more on the Facebook event page.

WHY: This is the launch party of the art project “A Thousand Lines, A Thousand Drawings”, a platform to announce future art projects and ideas, and the launch of my new website. Or an excuse for all of the amazing people I know to get together and discuss art.

This art project that blossomed out of a recent discussion about calligraphy. It started out as a way of exploring the infinite varieties of expression that are possible even with a very strict set of rules. Each drawing will be one continuous line inspired by a random collection of words, a favourite quote, an expression, or a brief description of an idea.

For example; a person could provide me with the quote “Ignis Aurum Probat, Miseria Fortes Homines” or the words “Love, Hospital, Rock”. In each case I would create an exploration in line incorporating these stimulus words and send the drawing to that person.

To get an idea what some of my continuous line drawings look like you can visit the following link:

Hope to see you there!
Warm regards,

Robert Bentley

Great news from the SUPER STREET FIRE team! the test run at Firefly was a success!

SUPER STREET FIRE - at Firefly in the woods in Vermont

SUPER STREET FIRE - at Firefly in the woods in Vermont

“We ran for varying amounts of time for three afternoons and nights. reactions ranged from “uhh… wow” to “that was FUCKING AWESOME how can i give you money to support this project?” It was awesome enough to enlist our neighboring camps to spend hours carting water up the hill just so we could get running sooner. ” — Seth Hardy (project leader/genius artist)

Are there any more photos from firefly participants? please send to me: syber at site3.ca

Volunteers Needed for Detroit Maker Faire

We really need volunteers for Detroit Maker Faire – July 30/31 – and during July to help with build days, real-life testing, etc.

Volunteers who can be in Detroit are most crucial – it takes 4 people to man the game; from controlling the game through the gui, prepping the players, to holding the safety dead-man switch for a while. Then we need a team of 6-8 people for setup and tear-down activities.

If you can help out in July or will be in Detroit for the Maker Faire and can lend us a few hours – please drop us a line: volunteers – at – site3.ca – right now! do it! even if just for the odd hour =)

Thanks for your help!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to the SSF funding drive on ulule! Woot – we made it! Your swag is on the way!

Paying for the fancy wireless real-life game *with fire* adds up, and we really appreciate your help and we hope you can come play with us soon! Thanks so much :)
